Before COVID-19, I believed things would continue more or less as they had before, and the job requirements and expectations of our Supervisors for the next four years would be about the same. Then suddenly we’re making previously unimaginable alterations to our behaviors, our businesses, our lives. And now we have the fires.
I can no longer support a Supervisor with a big project mentality, who’s perpetually “working on” whatever the issue is. John Leopold has had 12 years to follow through, and I’ve yet to see results.
Manu Koenig is the candidate for 1st District Supervisor with fresh ideas, plans for doing things differently and whose experience is relevant to the demands of the day and meets the moment we now face. We need a Supervisor who truly listens and solves problems. We need a Supervisor who can deliver community-driven action and results.

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 150 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
