There will be plenty of fresh produce available on Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m. at the weekly Forty Acres Fresh Market.
Every Thursday through the end of October at Austin Town Hall, 5610 W. Lake St., you can find Black-owned farm-fresh produce, delicious juices and table-ready meals.
Shoppers will be social distancing and wearing a mask while browsing the large selection of high-quality produce ranging from cucumbers, collard greens, bananas, green tomatoes, sweet potatoes and more.
Vendors at the market accept cash, credit cards, SNAP EBT, Illinois senior farmers market coupons, Veggie Rx coupons, Produce Perks coupons, CashApp, Venmo and Zelle.
Two Sisters Catering will also be selling food Thursday, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. On the menu:
*Collard greens with buttermilk cornbread – no meat is cooked in the greens ($5)
*2-piece ground turkey meatloaf meal with collard greens and corn ($12)
*2-piece smothered chicken meal with collard greens and corn ($12)
Desserts include almond joy cookie ($1), banana pudding cup with vanilla whipped cream ($4), cream cheese pound cake slices with and without caramel drizzle ($3)
The Austin-based Forty Acres Market also provides subscriptions that start at $10 for a small “mix it up” box of fruits and vegetables, or either exclusively; they’re delivered weekly, bi-weekly or monthly for an additional $6. Family-size orders are $30.
The market runs through Oct. 29.
