TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 16 Florida State softball team (10-3) kicks off rivalry week on Friday at 3:30 pm against No. 5 Florida (12-0) in Gainesville. The home and away weekend gets wrapped up in Tallahassee on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
Florida State enters the week coming off three wins in the Unconquered Invitational. The Seminoles earned two wins against Florida Gulf Coast and one against Southeastern Louisiana.
The Gators have won 12 straight games to start the season, with 10 of their 12 wins at home. Florida went 4-0 last week with a win over UNF, McNeese State and a pair of wins over Louisville.
FLORIDA STATE VS. Florida
Florida State and Florida have met 44 times. The Gators lead the all-time series 27-17. The two teams have split their last six meetings. UF and FSU met once last season with the Gators winning 5-2 in Gainesville. Florida State’s last win came in April of 2019 when they won 2-0 in Gainesville.
Through 13 games this season, the Seminoles have shown their speed recording 33 stolen bases in 34 attempts. Devyn Flaherty leads the Noles with seven, she is followed by Sydney Sherrill and Elizabeth Mason, both with five.
The Seminole offense has scored 68 runs in the first 13 games of the season. This has come as the Seminoles have put together 26 total extra-base hits, including 11 home runs and 15 doubles. Elizabeth Mason is leading the way with 4 home runs of her own to go with 4 doubles.
