The most recent Surface Laptop 4 leak shows configs, pricing, and a release date for European models.
The 13.5-inch Surface 4 Laptop with the Intel “Tiger Lake” 11th Gen Core i7-1185G7 and 16 GB/ 512GB will be priced at $1,800 Euros (about $2,250), WinFuture says via Notebookcheck.
The Surface Laptop 4 will reportedly arrive on April 27th.
The version with an AMD Ryzen Renoir Ryzen 7 4980U “Surface Edition” processor will possibly be about $100 cheaper (same memory/storage specs), according to WinFuture.
The larger 15-inch Surface Laptop 4 with the Core i7-1185G7 and 32 GB RAM/1 TB SSD will be 2,699 Euros or about $3,200 (priciest model), according to WinFuture.
With the exception of a slightly larger battery, other specs such as display size/resolution and physical design appear to be identical to the current Surface Laptop 3.
Processors specs for Surface Laptop 4 (as cited by WinFuture) vs Surface Laptop 3:
Surface Laptop 4:
- Ryzen 5 4680U Surface Edition (13.5-inch)
- Ryzen 7 4980U Surface Edition (15-inch)

- AMD Ryzen 7 3780U with Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics (15-inch)

Why not AMD Ryzen 5000?
Microsoft is rarely at the cutting edge of processor adoption for the Surface Laptop. HP, Dell, Lenovo et al have been using Tiger Lake for months and AMD has already announced its Ryzen 5000.
The current Surface Laptop 3 comes with AMD Ryzen 3000 series (announced in 2019) and Radeon Vega Graphics, while the Intel versions sport older Ice Lake processors (also a 2019 release).
Why not a Ryzen 5000 with the “Zen 3” (7-nanometer process) architecture? “[It] does raise a few questions...The exact reasons for this are still anyone's guess at this point,” writes Notebookcheck.
And, as Notebookcheck points out, it’s always possible that a Surface Laptop 4 with Ryzen 5000 silicon simply didn’t appear in these European leaks and could be coming in the U.S.
It’s also worth noting that Microsoft typically sells a wider variety of configurations in the U.S. than it does in Europe.
