A program called "New Bedford Fresh Start" is asking for the public's help in assisting individuals and families in need.

"Fresh Start" is operated through the City of New Bedford's Office of Community Service.  The program has provided housewares and furniture to families who lost most of their possessions in recent fires in New Bedford.  As a consequence, the inventory at "Fresh Start" needs a boost.

Volunteers will be collecting household items on Saturday, April 17th, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Municipal Parking Lot at William and Sixth Streets, near City Hall.  Residents are asked to donate "gently used" housewares like dishes or toasters, to help people start over.

Rev. Pamela Cole, President of Church Women United and Rev. David Lima, Executive Minister of the Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford joined Townsquare Sunday host Jim Phillips this week to explain "New Bedford Fresh Start", share details on the April 17th collection, and outline ways you can help.  Their interview can be heard here:

Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program that airs Sunday morning at 6 on 1429 WBSM.  The program highlights individuals and organizations working to make the Southcoast a better place to live.

If you would like to have your organization featured on Townsquare Sunday, please e-mail the host at jim.phillips@townsquaremedia.com
